Munnar( Kerala)
Called the 'Kashmir of South India', Munnar is in the Idukki district of Kerala. It is better to call it  so and this also falls under the category of hill station. Munnar is about 1600 metres above sea level, situated at the Western Ghats mountain range. The most prominent spot for animal lovers is the Eravikulam National Park, a habitat for the mountain goat Nilgiri Tahr. Other sightseeing spots includes Mattupetty Dam, Elephant ride, plant garden, boating, Kannan Devan tea factory and few other exciting spots. If you are adventure seeker, then Dreamland is the best place for you to visit and have fun. As told in the previous posts the source of income is through the entry tickets and the commodities you buy there. However, there isn't much to be bought here except chocolates, cultural commodities that describes vividly the cultural value of Kerala. Other things are sandal wood, Euclayptus and body oils and lotions that you can buy. For buying toys and other general things that kids usually  plead for, the best place to buy is the shops around the Mattupetty Dam. The best way to travel is by a flight to Cochin and then to Munnar by public transporation. If you still feel that may not be economical, then the best way is to take a train from Chennai to Ernakulam and then go to Munnar by public transportation. On the way to Munnar, it is also suggested to have a look Cochin's sightseeing spots.
The prominent ones here are Vegaland, Marine Drive, Tomb of Vasco Da Gama, The golden Beach and the Athirapalli Falls. Some also say that this was the spot where the movie Baahubali was taken; the falls. You can also go for Boating in the backwaters of Arabian Sea, also there are lots to be seen while boating. You can see the Mangroove Forests of Kerala, Chinese Fishing net and how coconut trees grow there in Kerala. But that is nto done yet, after the trip, it is advisable to relax yourselves at the Subhash Park which is only a few kilometres away from Ernakulam Junction Railway Station.
